Privacy Policy
Last Updated: January 23, 2026
1. Introduction
Welcome to CleanLink ("we," "our," or "us"). CleanLink is a privacy-first URL cleaning application designed to remove tracking parameters from URLs and protect your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. All URL cleaning operations are performed locally on your device, ensuring that your URLs and browsing data never leave your device unless you explicitly choose to share them.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Device and Technical Information
To provide and improve our service, we collect the following technical information:
- Device ID: A randomly generated identifier created by the app on first launch. This is not linked to your Apple ID, IDFA (Identifier for Advertisers), or any system-provided advertising identifier. It is used solely to maintain your account and subscription across app installations.
- Platform Information: Your device platform (iOS), app version, device model, and operating system version
- Location Data: We do not access precise location or GPS data. Country and timezone are inferred from your device's system settings (not from IP address or GPS). This information is used for service personalization and is not used for tracking purposes.
- Language Preference: Your device language setting
2.2 Subscription Information
If you purchase a subscription:
- RevenueCat ID: An identifier from RevenueCat (our subscription service provider) to manage your subscription
- Subscription Status: Whether you have an active premium subscription and expiration date
- Usage Data: Number of free URL cleanings remaining (for free tier users)
- Last Activity: Timestamp of your last URL cleaning activity
2.3 URLs and Browsing Data
We do NOT collect, store, or transmit the URLs you clean. All URL cleaning operations are performed entirely on your device. The only exception is when you use features that require resolving URL shorteners (such as bit.ly or t.co), in which case we make a minimal network request to resolve the shortened URL. These requests are made with privacy-focused headers and do not include any personal information.
Third-Party URL Resolution: When resolving shortened URLs, the destination service (e.g., bit.ly, t.co) may receive the shortened URL as part of standard HTTP resolution. We do not add tracking parameters or identify you in these requests. This is an unavoidable part of URL shortener resolution and is necessary for the feature to function.
2.4 What We Store Server-Side
We store only the minimum data required to operate the service. Specifically, we store:
- Subscription status and expiration dates
- Free usage quota counters (number of cleanings remaining)
- Last activity timestamp (for service optimization)
- Device ID and RevenueCat ID (for account management)
- Technical metadata (platform, version, country, timezone, language)
We do NOT store: URLs, browsing history, cleaned links, or any content from the URLs you process.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide and maintain our service
- Manage your subscription and premium features
- Track your free usage quota (for free tier users)
- Improve our service and fix technical issues
- Personalize your experience based on your language and region
- Comply with legal obligations
Important: We do not use collected data for tracking across apps or websites. We do not share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
3.1 Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), we process your personal data based on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a Contract: To provide app functionality and manage your subscription
- Legitimate Interests: Service improvement, fraud prevention, and technical support
- Legal Obligations: Tax and accounting compliance, responding to legal requests
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored securely in our database. We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.
Important: Your URLs are never stored on our servers. All URL cleaning happens locally on your device, ensuring maximum privacy.
4.1 Data Retention
We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the service or comply with legal obligations. Specifically:
- Active account data is retained while your account is active
- Subscription-related records may be retained for accounting and compliance purposes (typically 7 years as required by tax law)
- You may request deletion of your personal data at any time, subject to legal retention requirements
4.2 International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. We ensure that appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your data in accordance with this Privacy Policy and applicable data protection laws.
5. Third-Party Services
5.1 RevenueCat
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and process payments. RevenueCat may collect and process payment information in accordance with their privacy policy. We only receive your RevenueCat ID and subscription status from RevenueCat.
5.2 App Store
When you purchase a subscription through the App Store, Apple processes your payment. We do not have access to your payment information, which is handled entirely by Apple.
5.3 Do Not Track
We do not track users across websites or apps and do not engage in cross-app tracking, regardless of system or browser signals. We do not use collected data for cross-app or cross-website tracking. All data collection is limited to what is necessary to provide and improve our service.
